The Pink Pills Make Me the Happiest

It is 11:02 a.m. on January 9, 2011.

We are due to get snow today and my excitement level is a bit out of control. It is so rare that we get any of the white stuff this far down South. As I type this, the weather man says we may get up to four inches of glorious, wonderful SNOW. This city is ready to shut down! Even though I have no job to miss tomorrow, I am excited to get snowed in with my Honey.

We just made our essential snow day grocery list: Oreos, Ruffles, juice, pizza. Why do people always get bread and milk when they are facing winter weather? Who in the hell wants sandwiches and milk? As a couple of foodies over here, we want nothing but junk! Oh and we have five bottles of wine. That should cover us for 24 hours. I hope.

There is something about a good snowfall that makes me feel like a kid again.

I don’t feel like a kid right now. I feel like a tired, cranky adult.

Sadly, I did not post a blog yesterday but I have very good reasons. We lost our electricity RIGHT as it started to snow and sat around freezing for about ten hours. The best part is that we didn’t even lose the power over a weather related event. Just bad luck. Sigh.

But, we are snowed in with about 4 inches of snow on the ground. In Little Rock, Arkansas, that amount of snow is enough to shut the city down.

Check this space tomorrow for a more coherent blog entry.

  1. I’m jealous that you got real snow! Hope you enjoyed it! 🙂

    • We have done a great deal of eating, watching tv and I finally found a book that I can’t put down. So, all in all, great day! 🙂

I react the same way every winter – all excited about first snow and then it comes and then I remember why I hate it 😀

We’ve gotten so much snow this season – we always get snow but this season has been particularly snowy. Snow makes me grumpy but reading your post about stocking up on oreos and pizza made me smile and remember that a snowstorm is a good excuse to stay in, be lazy, watch movies and eat junk food – and who doesn’t love that every now and then!

    Thanks for reminding me!

  3. Originally from the Midwest, I’ve been living in the Southeast too… The first TWO snows were amazing and wonderful and beautiful… The others after that…. Ridiculous!

    • It is colder than a well diggers butt in Montana here in Arkansas right now. Wind chills have been close to zero. I take back saying that I wanted snow. 🙂
